The question of an issue
Threshold is the name of VOGARA’s first issue. How do people redefine themselves as the world they have built begins to change? We do not want that question to belong to just one voice. We can approach behaviour from within a person’s life, technology through the organisation of work, and a chair through the hand that made it. Each perspective notices something different.
This issue opens where those perspectives meet. A person’s hesitation may connect to an institution’s rule; a break in a street, to the rhythm of a life. Thoughts that begin on separate pages gather around a shared question as we read: What kind of people are we becoming in the world we build?

Room for reading
A digital magazine need not imitate a paper page on a screen. We open our essays in short chapters, with the option to read the whole text on one page. Sources sit at the end; following a claim beyond the magazine is part of reading.
Brevity should not reduce an idea to an easy verdict. A chapter can leave an objection as well as an answer. Finishing an issue does not mean finishing its questions. We publish one new essay each day. The archive gives us a way back to thoughts that would otherwise disappear in the stream.

Voices that meet
Neva reads our inner arrangements, Rauf the workings of institutions, and Mira the possibilities opened by technology. Kemal follows the traces of the past; Saye considers how places shape everyday life, while Lâl looks at the time that objects carry. They make overlooked details visible rather than simply completing one another’s sentences.
Arel receives these voices in MİHENK, hearing thought anew through literature and Sufi sensibility: the distance between the door a key opens and the place where a heart opens, the difference between saving time and finding time to live. A threshold is where separate worlds begin to hear each other.
